Château Clinet 2006 – Pomerol
Château Clinet erhebt sich auf dem legendären Kies- und Eisenplateau von Pomerol. Der Merlot-betonte 2006er besticht durch profunde Würze und bemerkenswerte Reife. Das Bouquet entfaltet dichte Aromen von Schwarzkirsche, Brombeere und Pflaume, nuanciert von Cassis, süßem Lakritz sowie Anklängen von Zedernholz, Zigarrenkiste, Graphit und Bitterschokolade. Tertiäre Noten wie Leder, Trüffel und Tabak ergänzen das vielschichtige Aromenspektrum. Am Gaumen präsentiert sich Clinet vollmundig, seidig und von feinkörnigem Tannin samt lebendiger Säure durchzogen. Die Textur bleibt cremig, stets unterlegt von salziger Mineralität; der Nachhall zeigt Tabak, dunkle Frucht und anhaltende Würze. Probiert am 17. Januar 2026 

Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London and then later at the château.The 2006 Château Clinet has a nose that appears to have reached maturity. Red berry fruit, red cherries, a touch of fig jam coming through with aeration. It is not as complex as the top tier vintages from Ronan Laborde and his team, yet there is charm in spades. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin, grippy in the mouth and with an almost crunchy, cracked black pepper finish that is a little more reserved than I was expecting. Château La Conseillante 2006 – Pomerol
La Conseillante gilt als Inbegriff an Finesse, geprägt vom hohen Merlot-Anteil und eleganten Cabernet Franc. 2006 verführt die Nase mit floraler Brillanz: Veilchen, Rosen und Noten von Sauerkirsche, Blaubeere und Cassis, dazu Sandelholz, Graphit, Mokka und feine Schokolade. Unterholz, Tabak und dezente Ledernoten sorgen für Komplexität. Am Gaumen balanciert der Wein gleitendes Tannin mit vibrierender Frische. Die animierende Säure verleiht der süßen Frucht Lebendigkeit, während der Abgang von floralen und würzigen Facetten und einer fast kristallinen Klarheit geprägt ist. Probiert am 12. Dezember 2025

Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London and then at the château. The 2006 Château La Conseillante had perhaps the most show-stopping bouquet out of all seventy-odd 2006s that I tasted at ten years. It explodes from the glass with raspberry coulis, kirsch, honey and marmalade, so much so that I am not sure if I would nail it as a Bordeaux, let alone a Pomerol! It is precocious and very attractive. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe red cherry and strawberry fruit, plenty of black truffle, fine tannin and well-judged acidity. This is an opulent, decadent La Conseillante that is atypical of the vintage and yet you totally fall for its charms. What it might lack in subtlety, it makes up for in sheer charm. Vieux Château Certan 2006 – Pomerol
Vieux Château Certan steht für aristokratische Größe: 2006 zeigt Tiefe, Eleganz und langes Potenzial. Das Bouquet ist opulent und verwoben, mit Schwarzkirsche, Brombeere, Cassis und kühler mineralischer Note; ergänzt durch Veilchen, getrocknete Blüten, Zedernholz, Kaffee und Tabak. Mit Flaschenreife kommen Trüffel und Waldboden deutlich hervor. Am Gaumen überzeugt der Wein mit Substanz, harmonisch eingebundenem Tannin und präziser Struktur. Kräftige Frucht, mineralischer Zug und noble Würze hallen lang und nachdrücklich nach. Probiert  am 12. Dezember 2025  

Tasted blind at Farr Vintners' horizontal, the 2006 Vieux Château Certan remains an outstanding proposition. It has an airy red cherry and raspberry bouquet, a hint of bergamot tea in the background, succinctly defined, even if the fruit needs some encouragement from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. The acidity is well judged, harmonious in the mouth, quite smooth with hints of truffle oil and white pepper towards the composed, quite sensual finish. Give this a couple of more years in bottle and then it should drink well for at least a couple of decades. Tasted April 2016. Robert Parker
